12BT, also known as 12 Tehni, is a strategic two-player board game.
12BT, a classic board game, pits two players against each other in a chess-like challenge. Each player commands 12 pawns. To move a bead, known as Tehni or Guti, two scenarios apply: if all adjacent spaces are vacant, the bead can shift to an empty spot; or, if a player can jump over an opponent's bead, that bead is captured. The first to capture all 12 of their opponent’s beads wins.
It resembles Draughts, also called checkers, dame, or damas, and shares similarities with the Arabic game Alquerque (القرقات), as well as Quirkat, Halma, Chinese Checkers, and Konane. Alquerque’s board and setup closely mirror 12BT. While Draughts has a distinct board, knowing it equips players for Alquerque, Quirkat, or 12BT.
