Synopsis:

This is the story of Moth Lake, a small town that, behind its peaceful facade, hides a terrible secret. Only a group of teenagers, with a difficult life, will reveal what has been hidden for generations. Mysterious events will intensify starting from the eve of a solar eclipse, and our young friends will start a journey into the shadow and into their own soul.

Moth Lake is a story-driven experience, with a lot of textual content (more than 20k words) and hundreds of different scenes (more than 300 scenarios). The script is a long journey through mystery, horror, and the characters' hearts. It contains dark topics and very sad stuff, but also a lot of non-sense jokes and weird conversations, making it hard to categorize strictly as a horror game.

The main characters navigate a 2.5D world, interacting with numerous hotspots and NPCs. They can pull objects and perform specific actions to solve diverse puzzles. The artwork features modern pixel art with a rich color palette and extensive frame-to-frame animations. There's a large set of animations, including talking, walking, running, crouching, crawling, pushing, climbing, sneaking, punching, throwing, and more.

Scenarios benefit from modern lighting and shading techniques, particle effects, and constant use of parallax to simulate a 3D environment. The game includes 6 main characters and over 50 NPCs, each with their own look and personality. You can control 7 characters through the main story and more in the additional chapters. Characters' eyes move, their facial expressions change, and they exhibit peculiar behaviors.

As the story progresses, players must make choices that affect the characters' moods and sometimes even the plot. Characters in a good mood smile, perform funny idle animations, and help each other. Conversely, those in a bad mood show anger, insult their friends, and act selfishly. The general mood can unlock hidden scenes, making multiple playthroughs worthwhile to discover these details.

For most of the game, players control a character surrounded by friends. Each friend has a unique skill to be used at the right moment, and their personalities can be crucial in solving puzzles. Some puzzles can be solved by a single character, while others require squad cooperation.

The game aims to deliver psychological horror vibes, so it's not for everyone. Some scenes are disturbing, may cause anxiety, or are extremely sad. Characters must confront their difficult pasts and navigate scary presents, requiring them to hide, make tough decisions, and sometimes fight for their lives. However, your choices can lead to the best possible ending, and if you fail, you can always try again.
