Seka is a captivating card game that goes by many names and variations, including Sikka, Sichka, Strekoza, Trinka, Trynka, Drynka, Tri Lista, Dva Lista, and others. This game offers a thrilling experience for players of all skill levels.
Key Features:
- The game can accommodate between 2 to 10 players.
- A full deck of 52 cards is used. For games with up to 4 players, only 20 cards are used, ranging from Tens to Aces.
- For games with 5 to 10 players, 36 cards are used, from Sixes to Aces.
- A Joker is included, and by agreement, it can be assigned to any suit, typically a Six.
Card Values:
- Joker and Ace: 11 points each
- King to Ten: 10 points each
- Lower cards are valued at their face value.
The winner is the player who accumulates the highest number of points.
Game Rules:
- The dealer is determined by a draw. Players contribute a pre-agreed amount to the pot.
- The dealer then distributes three cards to each player, who then decide whether to discard or play.
- Points are scored for cards of the same suit, known as a "hlyust" (e.g., a Seven and a Jack of Clubs score 17 points).
- If no cards match in suit, the player scores only the points from their highest card.
- Having three cards of the same rank (a "trikon" or "trynka") always scores higher than any hlyust, but not higher than a higher-ranked trikon.
- Bidding starts with the player to the right of the dealer, who places a bet. Subsequent players can fold, call, or raise.
- After the round, the first player decides whether to continue bidding or reveal the cards.
- The pot goes to the player with the highest total points.
- In case of a tie, players decide whether to split the pot or start a new round called a "svara."
- A "svara" involves another round with the same pot plus an additional contribution of 1/N (where N is the previous pot's total).
- Other players can also join the new round by contributing.
- Bluffing is allowed, where a player raises the bet despite having fewer points. If successful, the bluffer wins the pot without revealing their cards.
- The player to the dealer's left can place an additional "dark" bet of any size without looking at their cards. Subsequent players must then double the "dark" bet to continue playing.
