Robert Eggers, fresh off his gothic horror remake Nosferatu, is set to helm a sequel to the beloved fantasy classic, Labyrinth.

According to Variety, Eggers will pen and direct this follow-up to Jim Henson's 1986 dark fantasy film starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. He'll collaborate on the script with Sjón, his writing partner on The Northman. While a sequel was previously in development with Scott Derrickson attached, a lack of progress led TriStar and Jim Henson Pictures to enlist Eggers.

The original Labyrinth, released in 1986, featured Bowie as the Goblin King Jareth, who abducts Connelly's baby brother. Connelly's character then embarks on a journey into a fantastical realm to rescue her sibling, aided by a troupe of Henson's iconic puppets.

This isn't Eggers' only upcoming project. He's also directing a werewolf film titled Werwulf, slated for a Christmas 2026 release. Details are scarce, but the film is set in 13th-century England and will feature dialogue in Old English.

Eggers' Nosferatu, a reimagining of F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent film, premiered last Christmas. Set in 19th-century Germany, the film follows a real estate agent whose dealings with a Transylvanian count unleash vampiric horrors upon him and his wife.
