Tomb Raider's iconic heroine, Lara Croft, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has revealed! While her arrival had been widely anticipated, Behaviour has now confirmed the exciting news. Following Chapter 32: Dungeons & Dragons, and recent additions like Vecna and Chucky, Dead by Daylight welcomes one of gaming's most celebrated adventurers.

Dead by Daylight recently introduced The Lich (Vecna) from Stranger Things, and before that, Chucky from Child's Play and Alan Wake. Now, Lara Croft, the character created by Toby Gard for the original 1996 Tomb Raider game, takes center stage.

Lara Croft's arrival in Dead by Daylight is slated for July 16th across all platforms. However, PC players on Steam can enjoy early access via a public test build. While an official release date is set, a gameplay trailer showcasing Lara's skills and perks is yet to be released, making PC players the first to experience her in-game. Behaviour Interactive describes Lara as "the ultimate survivor," a fitting title given her history of perilous adventures. Her in-game model will be based on the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot trilogy.

Lara Croft's Dead by Daylight Debut: July 16th

The Lara Croft announcement was part of Behaviour Interactive's Dead by Daylight 8th-anniversary livestream, which also revealed several other exciting additions: a new 2v8 mode (two Killers versus eight Survivors), a chapter featuring Frank Stone from Supermassive Games' The Quarry, and a new Castlevania chapter later this year.

Earlier this year saw the release of Aspyr's Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection, and a PS5 port of Tomb Raider: Legend (though reception to the latter has been mixed). Adding to the Lara Croft resurgence, a new animated TV series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, is set to premiere in October 2024, with Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter from the MCU) voicing the lead role.
