Donkey Kong Country Returns HD is a remastered edition of a previously re-released title. Following its 2010 Wii debut and subsequent 2013 3DS release (featuring eight exclusive levels), this HD version includes all original levels plus the additional 3DS content.

The game maintains its challenging gameplay. However, this release offers an easier mode (borrowed from the 3DS version), providing extra hearts and assistance for players seeking a less demanding experience.
