Action RPG Trinity Trigger Brings Secret of Mana-Like Gameplay to Android

May 02,26

Japanese game studio Furyu Corporation has discontinued Trinity Trigger, an action RPG on Android. Originally released on consoles and PC with Xseed Games as the Western publisher, the mobile version is now self-published by Furyu.

What’s the Story in Trinity Trigger?

You take on the role of Cyan, a young man destined to confront the Warrior of Order as the chosen Warrior of Chaos. As Cyan journeys across the land of Trinitia, he forges an alliance with Elise and Zantis.

They fight alongside him, accompanied by the Triggers—beast-like companions that transform into eight distinct weapon types. During battle, you can freely switch between characters to adapt your strategy in real time.

The narrative embraces classic JRPG tropes: fate, lost memories, and a world on the brink of chaos. You’ll encounter familiar elements like towns, NPC interactions, and dungeon exploration.

The dungeons in Trinity Trigger are carved from the remnants of godlike weapons known as Arma. These serve as battlegrounds filled with puzzles, hidden secrets, and formidable enemies. Environments vary from snowy tundras to scorching deserts.

What About the Combat?

Combat centers on the Weapon Wheel—a system that lets you rapidly swap weapons to exploit enemy weaknesses. You can also upgrade your gear using materials gathered throughout your adventure.

Trinity Trigger features fully voiced dialogue and fluidly animated cutscenes that enhance the story with polished visuals. You can switch between three characters, each wielding nine weapons and possessing unique skill sets.

If you’re intrigued, you can find it on the Google Play Store. It’s available for $19.99—a bit steep, I’ll admit.
