The trailer showcases a new design for the Xenomorph, yet what stands out most is how closely Alien: Earth mirrors the aesthetic of Ridley Scott's groundbreaking 1979 horror film. The setting is unmistakably reminiscent of the Nostromo's MU/TH/UR control room, where Ripley famously uncovered the dire fate of her crew.

In this new trailer, we see a desperate crew member pleading for help, frantically banging on a sealed door as the Xenomorph closes in. The character Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, appears indifferent to her distress, reporting that the "specimens are loose," declaring the crew dead, and setting the ship's course for Earth. The trailer then shifts to a scene of six soldiers approaching what is likely the crashed ship, hinting at the chaos and danger they are about to face.

This glimpse into Alien: Earth raises numerous questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives his actions? Are there any other survivors? Was anyone left impregnated by the Xenomorph? And what fate awaits the soldiers?

The series sets the stage for a mysterious space vessel crash-landing on Earth, where a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers make a "fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat."

PlayFX's *Alien* series is set in 2120, placing it after *Prometheus* and just two years before the events of *Alien*. This timeline has sparked speculation among fans that *Alien: Earth* might explore the departure of the Nostromo from Earth or reveal how the nefarious Weyland-Yutani corporation first learned of the Xenomorphs. As a point of reference, the recently released *Alien: Romulus* is an interquel set between *Alien* and *Aliens*.

In January of last year, showrunner Noah Hawley shed light on his decision to deviate from the Prometheus backstory for Alien: Earth. Hawley, who values the "retro-futurism" of the original films, consulted with Ridley Scott on various aspects of the Alien series. Ultimately, he chose to steer clear of the bioweapon origin story in favor of the lore established in the earlier films.

Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025, with Alien: Romulus 2 also in development.
