Amazon Slashes $50 Off Used PlayStation Portal: New Price Drop
The PlayStation Portal, although never discounted when new, offers a fantastic deal on a used unit. Amazon Resale currently lists the PlayStation Portal in Used: Like New condition for just $150.23, shipped. This represents a significant 25% off its original $199 retail price. While the inclusion of a Sony warranty may vary, all Amazon Resale items come with the same 30-day return policy as new purchases. Given the popularity of this deal, we anticipate a quick sell-out.
Update: The price has now dropped to $150.23, marking the lowest price we've seen for a Used: Like New unit.

The PS Portal, Sony's innovative handheld gaming accessory for the PS5, resembles an extended DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen in the center. It transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming device by streaming games from your console at up to 60fps. The controller retains all the beloved features of the DualSense, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface that replaces the traditional touchpad. While the PS Portal can stream games even outside your home, a very stable and fast internet connection is essential. Remember, the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it requires a PS5 to function.
Update: You no longer need a PS5 to enjoy games on the PS Portal. Sony has introduced a feature allowing owners to stream games directly from the PlayStation Now cloud service. This means you can access a library of over 120 games, including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, without owning a PS5. To utilize this feature, you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, which costs $18 per month—a more affordable option than purchasing a PS5 and individual games.
It's worth noting that the PlayStation Portal isn't the only way to stream PS5 games over Wi-Fi at home. You can achieve similar functionality by using the PS Remote Play app on a mobile device or other gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, setting this up can be more complex, and you may miss out on some of the DualSense's unique features.
PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy
"The PlayStation Portal has pleasantly surprised me. Initially skeptical, I've grown to love its seamless experience compared to using a phone with an attached controller. It offers the freedom to play my PS5 games anywhere with decent WiFi coverage, which is especially handy when the TV is occupied by family members playing the Switch. Although it's not a standalone device and requires a PS5, the Portal's main drawbacks are its inability to access WiFi that requires a web browser for login and its lack of Bluetooth audio support. Despite these limitations, it's the best solution for PlayStation Remote Play currently available, and it's a must-own for PS5 owners interested in handheld gaming or those competing for the household TV."
