Bandai Namco Unveils Digimon Alysion, Digital Card Game

Apr 02,25

Bandai Namco is set to launch Digimon Alysion, a digital adaptation of the Digimon Card Game, on Android and iOS platforms. This free-to-play game, announced at Digimon Con 2025 on March 19th, does not yet have a confirmed release date. During the same event, Bandai Namco shared updates on other projects, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc in April 2025, a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime, and the announcement of a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, they revealed plans for a new RPG titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, which will be available on consoles and PC.

Digimon Alysion: Not Just a Card Game Port

Digimon Alysion isn't merely a digital version of the physical Digimon Card Game. It introduces 'DigiAly' cards, a new type of card designed specifically for this mobile version, alongside the original cards. The game also features new Digimon and characters, with the character lineup on the website showcasing an all-female cast, which is an unusual choice for a digital card game. This direction has sparked some skepticism among fans who were expecting a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.

This isn't Bandai Namco's first foray into Digimon mobile gaming, and their previous attempts have not been successful. With two failed tries under their belt, there's understandable hesitation about the potential success of Digimon Alysion. Despite this, anticipation for the game remains high. A closed beta test is planned, though details are still undisclosed. For more information, you can visit their official website or follow their X account.
