How to Beat Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Weaknesses: Ice, Thunder
Resistances: N/A
Immunities: Sonic Bomb
The Chatacabra, a sizable frog-like monster, primarily employs close-range tongue attacks. However, it can also charge if you maintain distance. While relatively easy to defeat, making most weapons viable, its smaller size might slightly reduce the effectiveness of weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade due to their multi-hit attacks being less efficient against smaller targets.
Most attacks revolve around its tongue, making frontal positioning the riskiest. Besides its licking attack, it slams its front limbs into the ground after a noticeable rearing motion. The only significant threat when not directly in front is a rearward tongue sweep after raising its head.
The optimal strategy is to remain to its sides, dodging or blocking its slam attacks. Utilizing its elemental weaknesses will significantly expedite the fight. With the right tactics, you’ll be sporting a new frog-skin hat in no time!
How to Capture Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster capture in Monster Hunter Wilds follows a consistent process. The Chatacabra's inability to fly simplifies matters. Equip yourself with a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap, and two Tranquilizer Bombs. However, carrying one of each trap type and a full eight Tranquilizer Bombs is prudent for unforeseen circumstances.
Battle the Chatacabra until its mini-map icon displays a skull, indicating its final retreat. Follow it, set your trap, and lure it inside. Once trapped, deploy two Tranquilizer Bombs to subdue it, completing the capture.
