Sonic BombThe Quematrice, a giant chicken-like beast reminiscent of a Cockatrice, prefers fiery breath attacks over petrification—a welcome change! Its mid-size makes it vulnerable to most weapons, but its area-of-effect attacks might favor hunters wielding ranged weapons.
Several attacks warrant special attention. While its tail strikes and sweeps can inflict damage, the tail slam—a powerful downward strike after raising its tail high—is particularly potent. Sidestepping or blocking effectively negates this attack. More importantly, watch out for its fire attacks. These not only deal immediate damage but also inflict burning, steadily draining your health, and can even ignite the ground.
These fire attacks are somewhat unpredictable. One involves rearing its head, roaring, and then flinging a flame from its tail. Another is a sweeping fire attack following a roar and head/tail raise, engulfing the area around it. It can also incorporate this fire attack into a charging attack, running towards you before unleashing a fiery blast. For ranged hunters, retreating during this charge is the safest strategy.
How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing the Quematrice requires the right tools: a Shock Trap, a Pitfall Trap, and at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap suffices, a backup is crucial in case of escape or interference from other monsters.
Once the Quematrice is sufficiently weakened (indicated by limping or a fading skull icon on the mini-map), strategically lay your trap. Ideally, wait until it moves to a new area after limping away for easier capture. Lure the Quematrice into the trap, then deploy two Tranq Bombs for a successful capture.
