Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Good news for RPG fans! Triangle Strategy is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a brief, unexpected removal. The popular Square Enix title, previously delisted for several days, is now available for purchase and download.

This return follows Square Enix's recent acquisition of the game's publishing rights from Nintendo, a move speculated to be the reason for the temporary delisting. Triangle Strategy, a critically acclaimed tactical RPG, is known for its classic gameplay reminiscent of Fire Emblem and other tactical RPG franchises. Its strategic unit placement and combat mechanics have earned it considerable praise.

Square Enix confirmed the game's return via Twitter, though no official explanation was given for its initial removal. This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has been temporarily unavailable on the eShop; Octopath Traveler faced a similar situation last year. However, Triangle Strategy's absence was significantly shorter, lasting only four days compared to Octopath Traveler's several-week hiatus.

The game's reappearance is welcome news, highlighting the strong relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo. This partnership has resulted in several Nintendo Switch exclusives, including the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (initially) and the definitive edition of Dragon Quest 11. Square Enix's history of console-exclusive titles, dating back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES, continues with titles like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive).
