Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the unveiling of a new map: The Tomb. This January 15th celebration features a comprehensive blog post detailing all the zombie-themed surprises coming soon. The highlight is The Tomb, a new sandy map debuting with Season 2 on January 28th, adding another thrilling location to the Zombies universe just weeks after Season 1’s Citadelle des Morts.

Treyarch's story summary reveals that after the events at Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya follow Gabriel Krafft's clues to an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. These catacombs, built on ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., remained undisturbed for centuries until the early 1900s, hinting at a deeper mystery than initially imagined.

The Tomb's connection to a British archaeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, remains shrouded in mystery. Gameplay-wise, it promises a similar experience to Liberty Falls—tight play spaces emphasizing replayability and hidden Easter eggs.

Season 2 also introduces a reimagined Wonder Weapon inspired by previous entries and the return of an iconic SMG. Further details remain under wraps.

Quality-of-life improvements are also on the horizon, including community-requested features such as tracking up to 10 Calling Card and Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer. Zombies mode will gain a co-op pause option, allowing the party leader to pause mid-game. Separate HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be implemented, along with the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with your loadout if disconnected.

Treyarch shared Directed Mode statistics, revealing players have logged over 480 million hours in Black Ops 6 Zombies. The team notes that Directed Mode has more than doubled the average Main Quest completion rate, from 3.38% to 8.23% since its launch.

The upcoming release of The Tomb will be particularly interesting given Activision's recent announcement regarding voice actor recasting for some beloved Zombies characters due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
