Blackroot Location in Divinity Original Sin 2 Revealed
Quick Links
In the expansive world of Divinity: Original Sin 2, the herb known as Blackroot stands out as one of the most crucial elements you'll encounter in Rivellon. This herb is essential for the Miester's Ritual, which you'll need to perform in the fourth act under the guidance of Miester Siva. To successfully conduct this ritual, you must craft a special Ritual Bowl by combining a ritual bowl, a bloody obsidian lancet, and Blackroot. This process grants you access to the Hall of Echoes and unlocks the Night Vision skill.
The first time you undertake this ritual, all the required ingredients can be conveniently found in Siva's basement. However, after gaining a Source point, you'll need to source these items yourself for subsequent rituals. While obtaining a ritual bowl and an obsidian lancet is usually straightforward and you might already have them in your inventory, locating Blackroot can be quite challenging. If you're struggling to find it, this guide will be invaluable.
Venture Into Cloisterwood
Cloisterwood, a dense forest nestled in the northwestern part of Reaper's Coast, is a short journey north from Driftwood. Once you're immersed in the forest, use the left ALT key to highlight all possible pickups.
You'll soon come across various herbs, including Blackroots, often found at the base of trees. Although you only need one Blackroot for the ritual, it's wise to collect a few more to be on the safe side. While this guide avoids spoiling how many times you'll need to perform the ritual, remember you can do so each time you earn a Source point.
Cloisterwood Exploration Tips
Cloisterwood is brimming with secrets, including two NPCs who can help you earn Source points, an undead trader, and a formidable witch ready for a tough battle.
Hannag and Jahan are the two NPCs you'll want to meet to gain Source points, with Jahan also being pivotal for progressing Lohse's storyline. Hidden among some ruins, you'll find Eithne, the undead trader. Engage with her and select the "Divine Order" option to embark on a side quest.
At the northern edge of Cloisterwood lies a pier where you'll encounter the Dead Ferryman NPC, who offers passage to Bloodmoon Island. These are just a few of the notable NPCs you can encounter in Cloisterwood. The forest holds many more secrets, including the Wrecker's Cave and the chance to obtain a unique loremaster amulet by conversing with the spirit of a ship captain. If you're exploring Cloisterwood for the first time, take the time to thoroughly investigate the area. It's recommended to avoid confronting the crucified witch, Alice Alisceon, until you've reached at least level 15.
