Dedicated State of Play Presentation Confirmed

PlayStation has announced a special State of Play event exclusively for Borderlands 4 today. The April 29 Twitter (X) post revealed the showcase will air April 30 at 2 PM PT across PlayStation's official YouTube and Twitch channels. See your local time below:

The livestream will feature over 20 minutes of developer-guided gameplay, including missions, weapon demonstrations, Action Skills, and both new and returning characters, according to PlayStation's blog post.

Release Date Moves Forward to September 12

Following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford revealed in a since-deleted April 29 video that Borderlands 4's launch has been accelerated to September 12. The executive explained this decision stemmed from exceptional development progress before correcting the premature post.

Originally slated for September 23 following February's State of Play reveal, the official Borderlands 4 account later confirmed the earlier release date shift, citing extensive testing and development breakthroughs that allowed the timeline adjustment.

"After rigorous evaluation - including countless meetings, playtests, and remarkable development achievements - we've made the significant decision to advance Borderlands 4's launch to September 12," the studio announced.

Gearbox aims to deliver the ultimate Borderlands experience, with players now gaining earlier access to wreak havoc on the new planet Kairos. The game launches September 12, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
