Capcom Hints at Resident Evil 9 in Cheerful Video Marking 10M RE4 Players
Capcom has cleverly teased Resident Evil 9 right under our noses. To celebrate reaching a monumental 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team shared a delightful video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong engaging in a hushed conversation with one of gaming's most iconic villains. The scene shifts to Leon, surrounded by an infected horde sporting party hats as they leisurely advance towards a church.
The video then transitions to a rock song, with Dr. Salvador amusingly strumming his chainsaw as if it were a guitar. The camera pulls back to reveal a fist-pumping Leon standing in front of a rustic sign that reads "Thank you for playing."

However, turn that sign on its side, and the planks form the Roman numeral "IX," which signifies the number 9. While it could be a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem points out that the lower plank is missing from earlier parts of the video, indicating it was intentionally added. This has sparked curiosity among fans.
"I know what you did here," said one surprised responder, adding a wide-eyed emoji for emphasis.
Capcom has officially announced that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, Resident Evil 9, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7. Nakanishi said at the time, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the game might be set on an island inspired by Singapore.
