May 18,25

The classic role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has made a triumphant return to PC, marking a significant milestone 25 years after its initial release. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and a year later in Europe, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. The storyline follows Ryu, a protagonist with the unique ability to transform into a dragon, as he allies with other warriors to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions.

As part of its ongoing Preservation Program, GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV for modern PCs, ensuring a seamless and enhanced gaming experience. Now available DRM-free on the GOG platform, the game is optimized for Windows 10 and 11, offering both English and Japanese localizations. Players can enjoy improved graphics, thanks to an upgraded DirectX renderer, along with new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction for superior visuals. The audio has also received a significant overhaul, with missing environmental sounds restored and new configuration options added.
