More Than You Can Chew, a Card-Based Arcade Game, Lands on Android
More Than You Can Chew is a fresh, card-based arcade game now available on Android, Windows PC, Mac, and Linux via Itch.io. Developed by Oopsy Gamesy, this free-to-play title cleverly blends card mechanics with the strategic decision-making of a cooking simulator.
Running a Smoothie Food Truck
In More Than You Can Chew, you step into the shoes of a protagonist tasked with managing their older brother's smoothie truck for a week. This involves making crucial choices about ingredient management and fulfilling customer orders efficiently. Gameplay revolves around drawing action cards that dictate your available actions, demanding a balance between preparation and swift execution. Discover unique mechanics like the Mishmush combination system and special action cards such as Zingify and Twinaroo, adding layers of strategic depth.
The game boasts a fully voiced Story Mode and an Arcade Mode offering three difficulty levels, each introducing unique modifiers to keep things interesting. Unconventional ingredients like Burnberry and Lemmy’s add a quirky and fun element to the gameplay.
Is It Too Much?
Interestingly, More Than You Can Chew began life as an entry for a 2023 game jam. Subsequent development has transformed it into the polished experience we see today.
The game stands out with its distinctive visuals, showcasing almost surreal character designs and fluid animations. It differentiates itself from traditional deck-builders through a real-time pressure system, forcing players to make quick, calculated decisions under pressure.
