Cross-Play: Civilization VII supports cross-play, but with limitations. Players require an active 2K account linked to their chosen platforms. Cross-play functions seamlessly across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, macOS, and Linux, offering standard map sizes and player counts. However, Nintendo Switch participation introduces restrictions. Due to hardware limitations, the Switch version supports smaller map sizes (excluding standard and larger) and fewer players (up to four in Antiquity and Exploration Ages, six in the Modern Age). Therefore, cross-play sessions involving a Switch will adhere to these reduced parameters. While the Switch version is playable, players should be aware of these limitations, especially in online multiplayer.

Cross-Progression: Unlike the complexities of cross-play, Civilization VII's cross-progression is straightforward. With an active 2K account, progress is synced across all linked platforms. Players can seamlessly continue their game on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, or any other linked platform without restarting. This feature, absent in Civilization VI at launch, is a welcome addition in Civilization VII, reflecting modern gaming habits. Whether playing on a Steam Deck, Switch, PC, or console, progress is consistently tracked.

Civilization VII launches February 11th.
