Civilization 7 (Civ 7) will push back its first in-game event to focus on critical quality-of-life enhancements. On February 28, 2025, Firaxis Games shared a Development Roadmap update, outlining key priorities for the next Civ 7 patch.

The 1.1.0 update, set for March 4, 2025, will roll out across PC and consoles, with a slightly different schedule for Nintendo Switch. Originally, the update was to include the first in-game event, Natural Wonder Battle, but Firaxis Games announced, "While the Natural Wonder Battle event was initially planned for Update 1.1.0, we’re postponing events to a later update to focus on quality-of-life improvements for players globally. More details on the first event will follow when ready."

Since its early access release, Civilization 7 has received mixed feedback, particularly regarding its user interface (UI). Firaxis Games acknowledged this, stating, "We’re actively reviewing feedback on the game’s UI." They added, "We’re committed to refining Civilization 7 and value your input."

The forthcoming Civ 7 update will address player suggestions and concerns. While full patch notes will be released on launch day, Firaxis Games has shared a preview of what’s coming.

Players will gain access to a new natural wonder, the Bermuda Triangle, at no extra cost. The update will also include highly requested UI improvements, addressing community feedback. Additionally, the Modern Age’s Cultural Legacy Path and Victory conditions will see significant tweaks, with AI leaders better equipped to pursue Cultural Victories.

Alongside the update, the first part of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection will launch. Firaxis noted, "Players with eligible editions or who purchased the Crossroads of the World Collection separately will receive this content automatically with Update 1.1.0."

Major Update Planned for March 25, 2025

Civ 7’s next major update is scheduled for March 25, 2025, though the date may shift. The focus remains on enhancing the user interface, with Firaxis stating, "Improving the UI is a top priority for our team. The March 25 changes are part of a broader plan to refine the UI over the coming months."

Looking ahead, Civ 7 will introduce further refinements, including a “one more turn” feature to extend gameplay beyond the Modern Age, auto-explore functionality, new map sizes for PC and consoles (excluding Switch), and enhanced multiplayer support.

Firaxis emphasized, "We’re working to implement these priorities as quickly as possible. Some may arrive as early as April, though others will require more time for development, testing, and deployment. Plans may evolve, and we’ll share more details in the coming weeks and months. Thank you for your patience!"
