Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developers Considering Switch 2 Port

Says It "Could Be Interesting"

Following the resounding success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developer Sandfall Interactive is now exploring the possibility of bringing the game to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. In an insightful interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Expedition 33's Director, Guillaume Broche, discussed the studio's future plans after their impressive launch.

Broche emphasized the impact of the game's success, stating, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything." He hinted at multiple opportunities on the horizon, including the potential for a Switch 2 release. "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting," Broche elaborated.

With the anticipated launch of the Switch 2 on the horizon, it seems fitting that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, hailed as one of the top-rated games of the year, might also make its way to this highly anticipated console. Fans eagerly await confirmation on whether they can experience the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on Nintendo's latest device.

No Official Merchandise…Yet!

Amidst the flurry of opportunities, Sandfall Interactive is also addressing fan demands for official merchandise. Specifically, there's been a strong call for an official plush of the beloved character, Esquie. However, the studio has yet to release any official merchandise and has warned fans about the proliferation of counterfeit items online. In a tweet on May 14, they cautioned, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."

They further highlighted the use of AI-generated artwork in many of these unauthorized products, strongly advising against purchasing them due to potential scams. Despite this, Sandfall Interactive is actively working on creating official Esquie plushies. "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!" they announced on Twitter.

The excitement around Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to grow, and fans can look forward to not only potential new platform releases but also official merchandise.
