Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the sequel continuing the story beyond Midgar, receives update 1.080. This update enhances the game's atmosphere and realism, providing a more refined haptic experience. The PC version launches January 23, 2025. This second installment in the trilogy expands the narrative with a greater focus on exploration.

While Final Fantasy XVI's initial May 2024 sales were disappointing, subsequent sales slowed, ultimately falling short of fiscal year projections. Specific sales figures remain undisclosed. Similarly, Square Enix has not released sales data for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which also underperformed expectations.

However, Square Enix clarified that they don't consider Final Fantasy VII Rebirth a complete failure. They remain confident that Final Fantasy XVI can still meet its targets within the 18-month timeframe.
