The Blood of Dawnwalker Devs Aim for Witcher 3 Quality

Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is developing The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for the quality of The Witcher 3, albeit on a smaller scale. This article delves into the upcoming title and the director's vision.

A Focused, High-Quality Experience

The Blood of Dawnwalker: Ambitious Scope

In an interview with GamesRadar, Creative Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the game's ambition. While acknowledging the studio's size and the project's debut status, he emphasized their commitment to AAA quality, citing The Witcher 3 as their benchmark. He addressed the "AA" grey area, stating that their focus is firmly on AAA quality, not sheer scale.

The team at Rebel Wolves, boasting veterans from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, possesses considerable experience. Tomaszkiewicz and his brother Konrad founded Rebel Wolves to pursue greater creative freedom than larger studios allow.

The Blood of Dawnwalker: Gameplay Details

Tomaszkiewicz anticipates a 30-40 hour main campaign. He argued that playtime isn't the sole measure of AAA quality, pointing out shorter AAA titles like Call of Duty. The game's narrative-driven open world, set in Vale Sangora, centers on Coen, a young man granted vampiric powers who embarks on a quest to save his sister.

Currently, there's no official release date, but a gameplay reveal is planned for Summer 2025. The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
