The Blade Phantom, a manifestation of the ghostly voices haunting Khazan, appears in the Trials of the Frozen Mountain level on Stormpass. This boss is known for its relentless attacks, testing your ability to manage stamina and aggression. It's the first multi-phase boss you'll encounter in the game.
The battle begins in a castle with floors flooded by a crimson liquid. The Blade Phantom unleashes a variety of attacks:
- A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick being delayed.
- A three-hit combo with two punches followed by a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ending with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo with flashing punches, followed by a grab that you must dodge.
In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and red spikes to appear. If it uses a spear, be prepared for a quick throw and a teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, it performs a swift six-hit combo. It can also disappear and dash around the battlefield before attacking.
Mastering the timing of these attacks is crucial. By parrying or dodging effectively, you can find openings to attack and deplete the Blade Phantom's stamina, setting up for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health by about half, triggering the second phase.
Phase 2

In the second phase, the Blade Phantom starts with four claw attacks, followed by a high spear throw. After the spear lands, avoid the affected area and prepare for a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a final hammer smash.
While the Blade Phantom retains many of its previous attacks, it introduces new claw attacks, a spear thrust with a follow-up, and swift dual-wielding attacks ranging from four to six hits. It also teleports more frequently. When wielding the greatsword, be cautious of multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this attack successfully, restoring your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable.
To maximize damage, attack the Blade Phantom when its stamina is depleted, and initiate the Brutal Attack just before the window closes. This strategy will help you defeat the boss more efficiently. Upon victory, you'll be rewarded with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
