Digimon Alysion: A Story Mode in the Pokemon TCG Rival
During DIGIMON CON 2025, Bandai Namco unveiled an exciting new addition to the Digimon franchise: Digimon Alysion, a mobile trading card game (TCG) currently in development. This announcement comes on the heels of successful mobile TCGs like Pokémon TCG Pocket and Marvel Snap, indicating Digimon's intent to capture a broader audience through mobile gaming.
Digimon Alysion is designed as a free-to-play digital TCG where players can collect cards featuring various Digimon and characters from the franchise. Players will have the opportunity to build their decks and engage in battles with others. What sets Digimon Alysion apart is its inclusion of an in-depth story mode, offering players an immersive narrative experience alongside traditional and competitive gameplay.
The reveal trailer for Digimon Alysion introduced an all-female cast speculated to be featured in the story mode, including new characters Kanata Hondo, Futre, and Valner Dragnogh, alongside a new Digimon named Gemmon. While no specific release date has been announced, a closed beta test is on the horizon, with further details to be shared soon.
In addition to Digimon Alysion, DIGIMON CON 2025 provided more insights into another anticipated title, Digimon Story: Time Stranger. Producer Ryosuke Hara shared details about the game's narrative, key characters, and the unique abilities of some featured Digimon.
Hara confirmed that players will start their journey with one of three popular Digimon from the original Digimon Adventure series: Patamon, Gomamon, or DemiDevimon. These choices were hinted at in the game's promotional artwork, which delighted fans. Time Stranger boasts an impressive roster of over 450 Digimon, including fan favorites such as Angewomon, Gallantmon, and Agumon, surpassing the previous record set by Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth - Hacker’s Memory with its 330 Digimon.
The game's story revolves around time manipulation, with players choosing between protagonists Dan Yuki or Kanan Yuki, who are secret agents for the organization ADAMAS. They tackle mysterious threats affecting both humans and Digimon, accompanied by the main heroine, Inori Misono, and her partner Aegiomon. The narrative promises a thrilling adventure through different timelines.
The event also highlighted other exciting developments within the Digimon franchise, such as the 25th Anniversary PV for the Digimon Anime, new starter decks and booster packs for the Digimon Trading Card Game, and an upcoming anime series, Digimon Beatbreak, set to debut in October 2025. With these announcements, the Digimon franchise is poised for significant growth and excitement in the coming year.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay tuned for more updates and detailed coverage on this promising title.
