Digimon Story: Time Stranger Listing Leaks Before PlayStation Showcase

A new installment in the beloved Digimon franchise, tentatively titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, has seemingly leaked via GameStop, just ahead of tonight's PlayStation State of Play presentation. The leak was first spotted and shared by Gematsu, which provided store links for pre-ordering the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. While the GameStop listings are devoid of images or gameplay details, the timing suggests an official announcement could be imminent.

The leak comes mere hours before Sony's latest State of Play event, which promises 40 minutes of content. With no specific details yet released about the event's lineup, the possibility of Digimon Story: Time Stranger making an appearance is high, given the sudden appearance of pre-order options.

The Digimon Story series has a storied history, dating back to the original Digimon Story on the Nintendo DS in the mid-2000s. Over the years, numerous sequels and spin-offs have been released across various platforms, including the well-received Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015 and its follow-up, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory in 2017. The series continued with the Complete Edition in 2019, which bundled both Cyber Sleuth titles.

In these games, players enter the Digimon universe to befriend and battle with digital monsters in an RPG format. Despite a 2022 announcement from franchise producer Kazumashu Habu hinting at a new entry, fans have been eagerly awaiting a fresh addition to the series. While games like Digimon Survive have helped bridge the gap, the potential reveal of Digimon Story: Time Stranger could mark the long-awaited return of the mainline series.
