The DOOM community's passion for running the iconic game on unconventional platforms continues to captivate enthusiasts. Recently, a tech-savvy individual known as NyanSatan proudly showcased their latest achievement: running the classic shooter DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, equipped with its own iOS-based firmware and a processor running at up to 168 MHz, presented a unique challenge. NyanSatan accessed the firmware using a MacBook, as the adapter itself lacks sufficient memory to handle the transfer independently.

In other DOOM news, the upcoming title, DOOM: The Dark Ages, promises to redefine player accessibility and customization. Developers at id Software are introducing a variety of settings that allow players to adjust the aggression of demons, making the game more approachable for all skill levels. According to executive producer Marty Stratton, the studio's goal is to make DOOM: The Dark Ages as inclusive as possible. Players will have the ability to fine-tune numerous aspects of gameplay, including enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speeds, the amount of damage players take, game tempo, aggression levels, and parry timings.

Stratton also emphasized that DOOM: The Dark Ages is designed to be standalone, ensuring that players do not need prior knowledge of the game's narrative to enjoy it or to understand the plots of both DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal. This approach aims to welcome both new and returning players into the DOOM universe with open arms.
