Herschel "Guy" Beahm IV, known online as Dr Disrespect, has acknowledged inappropriate messaging with an underage individual, confirming the reason behind his Twitch ban. This revelation sheds light on his 2019 expulsion from the platform, ending years of speculation.

The fourth anniversary of his ban falls on June 26th. Following a lawsuit and subsequent settlement with Twitch in early 2022, former Twitch employee Cody Conners recently alleged on Twitter that Dr Disrespect's ban stemmed from "sexting a minor" via the now-defunct Twitch Whispers feature.

Dr Disrespect initially denied wrongdoing, citing a resolved matter. However, a subsequent statement on June 25th admitted to inappropriate conversations with a minor via Twitch Whispers in 2017, three years before his ban. He clarified that while the conversations were inappropriate, there were no intentions to meet the minor. This directly counters Conners' claim that Dr Disrespect aimed to meet the individual at TwitchCon. The statement garnered nearly 11 million views within 90 minutes of its release. Criticism followed his initial omission of the term "minor" from the tweet, an oversight he later corrected.

The statement also addressed his departure from Midnight Society, the game development studio he co-founded. While Midnight Society cited a need to uphold its principles, Dr Disrespect described the decision as a mutual, albeit painful, one. He issued apologies to the studio's staff, his community, and family.

Finally, Dr Disrespect announced an extended, but temporary, break from streaming. He expressed a sense of relief and rejected the "predator" label levied by some online.
