A Decade in the Making

Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s development has been a long and complex process, marked by significant delays spanning nearly a decade. Development began in 2015, following Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting resource allocation and delaying the project—initially codenamed "Joplin." Furthermore, initial design conflicts with the company's live-service strategy led to a complete development halt.

The Veilguard was resurrected in 2018 under the codename "Morrison." After further development, it was formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
