Dragon Quest XII News to Gradually Surface
Dragon Quest XII remains under development, with updates to be revealed incrementally, according to series creator Yuji Horii.
During a recent livestream with his radio show group, KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku, Horii confirmed that the Square Enix development team is diligently working on Dragon Quest XII. This marks the first update since May 2024, following the announcements of the passing of Akira Toriyama and Koichi Sugiyama, key figures in the Dragon Quest franchise. The departure of lead producer Yu Miyake to head Square Enix's mobile game division had also been previously announced.
Prior to this update, fan concerns regarding the game's potential cancellation surfaced due to Square Enix's restructuring and the absence of news. Horii's statement, however, reassures fans that the project is ongoing.
Square Enix has since reported that Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake surpassed sales projections, achieving 2 million units sold.
