Dynasty Warriors: Origins Faction Guide

Mar 13,25

In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll carve a path through ancient China, battling alongside various warlords. But eventually, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. This guide explains how to navigate the faction selection process.

Understanding Factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*

The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters see your character, the Wanderer, acting independently, assisting Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei in battles such as the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate. However, Chapter 3 presents a turning point: you must choose a faction.

Before making your choice, the game provides opportunities to interact with each faction through a series of missions. Sun Jian requires completion of three battles, Liu Bei two, and Cao Cao just one. Once you fulfill a faction's requirements, a new mission unlocks, forcing you to select an alliance. For example, completing Cao Cao's missions first will present a choice between Cao Cao and Liu Bei, with the latter unavailable until their missions are completed. You can, however, complete all factions' missions before committing.

Your choice is permanent. Once you select a faction, the others become inaccessible for the remainder of the game. You'll lose the ability to accept side quests from the unchosen factions, impacting your bond with those officers and potentially limiting skill point acquisition. Faction choice can influence difficulty; for example, aligning with Liu Bei initially limits access to commanding officers and side quest opportunities.

This concludes our guide on faction selection in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, available now on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
