Hashino, when discussing the studio's future goals, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.
Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio's future as a franchise, Hashino confirmed there are no immediate plans for a sequel. His focus remains on completing the current project, which he initially conceived as a third major JRPG series alongside Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming for it to become a flagship title for Atlus.
While a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel is unlikely to be the studio's next endeavor, an anime adaptation is being considered. Metaphor: ReFantazio has already achieved significant success for Atlus, boasting the company's most successful platform launch to date.
The game's peak concurrent player count exceeded 85,961, surpassing the concurrent player counts of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
