FF16 PC Port: RTX 4090 Can't Max Out
Final Fantasy 16's recent PC release and PS5 update have encountered significant performance issues and glitches. Here, we delve into the specific challenges affecting both the PC and PS5 versions of the game.

FF16 PC Struggles with Performance, Even on High-End Hardware
Just yesterday, Final Fantasy 16's Naoki Yoshida urged fans to avoid creating "offensive or inappropriate" mods for the PC version. However, mods are the least of their concerns, as the game's demanding nature poses a challenge even for the most advanced graphics cards. PC gamers were excited to experience the game at 4K resolution and 60 fps, but recent benchmarks suggest that even the powerful NVIDIA RTX 4090 struggles to achieve this.
John Papadopoulos from DSOGaming reported that maintaining a steady 60 fps at native 4K with max settings is difficult for Final Fantasy 16 on PC. This is unexpected, given the RTX 4090's status as one of the top consumer graphics cards.
However, there's a silver lining for PC players. Activating DLSS 3 Frame Generation along with DLAA reportedly enables frame rates to exceed 80 fps consistently. DLSS 3, NVIDIA's latest technology, leverages AI to generate additional frames for smoother gameplay, while DLAA enhances image quality with minimal performance impact compared to traditional anti-aliasing methods.
Final Fantasy 16 first launched on the PlayStation 5 over a year ago and finally arrived on PC on September 17. The Complete Edition includes the base game and its two expansions, Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. Before you start playing, ensure your system meets the game's recommended specifications for a seamless experience. Check out the minimum and recommended specs below.
