In a recent episode of Nintendo's Creator's Voice series, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of the Final Fantasy Remake series, shared exciting news about the future of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. This enhanced PS5 version of the 2020 PS4 release, which kicks off the remake trilogy and expands significantly on the iconic 1997 PS1 RPG, is set to make its way to the upcoming Switch 2.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, already available on PS5 and PC, brings graphical and lighting enhancements over its PS4 counterpart, along with the Intermission DLC, which introduces the adventures of the spirited ninja, Yuffie, in Midgar. Hamaguchi highlighted that the power of the Switch 2 will allow them to fully realize Midgar's detailed environment on Nintendo's next handheld platform. "With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs," he explained.

The portability of the Switch 2 was a significant factor highlighted by Hamaguchi, suggesting that players will be able to enjoy the game on the go, such as during commutes. This feature not only enhances the gaming experience but also fosters a community aspect, enabling players to easily share and discuss their progress with others.

Further enhancing the social aspect, the Switch 2 version will include GameChat, allowing players to communicate with friends and share their screens in real-time. Hamaguchi expressed his enthusiasm about seeing the game on a portable system, hoping to foster a robust partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.

While only Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been confirmed for the Switch 2 so far, Hamaguchi's comments suggest that future installments, including Rebirth and the final entry in the trilogy, might also see releases on this platform. This development marks a significant return for the Final Fantasy series to Nintendo consoles, echoing its origins before the series transitioned to the PlayStation 1 for the groundbreaking Final Fantasy VII in 1997. With this remake, fans can look forward to experiencing FFVII on Nintendo hardware once again.
