Fortnite: Unlock Master Chief & Matte Black Style Guide
Quick Links
When a Gaming Legends skin like Master Chief enters the world of Fortnite, it's a big deal. Fans of the Halo franchise have been eagerly waiting for this moment, as Master Chief, or Petty Officer John-117, has been absent from the Item Shop since June 3, 2022. However, a festive surprise arrived on December 23, 2024, marking his return. This iconic Xbox mascot is now ready for players to suit up in Spartan armor and jump from the Battle Bus to secure that Victory Royale. But what exactly does the Master Chief Bundle include, and how many V-Bucks will it set you back?

How to Get the Matte Black Master Chief in Fortnite
Good news for those seeking a unique look: Epic Games has announced via the Fortnite Status account on X (formerly Twitter) that the Matte Black style for the Master Chief outfit is still unlockable. To get it, simply purchase the Master Chief outfit and then play a single match of Fortnite Battle Royale on an Xbox Series X|S. This will unlock the exclusive Matte Black style.
Previously, it was thought that this style was no longer available for those purchasing the skin post-December 2024, but that decision has been reversed. Now, everyone has the chance to add this distinctive look to their collection.
