"Game Informer Revived by Neill Blomkamp's Studio, Entire Team Returns"
Just over six months after its closure by GameStop in August 2024, Game Informer has made a triumphant return, with the entire team back on board. In a heartfelt 'Letter From the Editor,' Game Informer Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller announced that Gunzilla Games, the developer behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale game Off the Grid, now in Early Access, has acquired the rights to Game Informer. Gunzilla Games is also known for GunZ, a Layer-1 blockchain ecosystem that supports community-driven economies in AAA games, including Off the Grid. Notably, the team at Gunzilla includes Neill Blomkamp, the acclaimed director of District 9 and Chappie, serving as the chief creative officer and co-founder.
Game Informer is back! The entire team is returning and we can't wait to reconnect. Come join us to celebrate the best in games, the people who make games, and the people who play games from around the world.

Miller emphasized that Gunzilla Games is committed to maintaining Game Informer as an independent editorial outlet, allowing the team full autonomy over content decisions. This commitment to independence has led to the formation of a new entity, Game Informer Inc., which now oversees the storied publication that boasts over 30 years of history. To ensure seamless coverage, the team has prepared "dozens" of reviews for games released during their hiatus and is ready to unveil their Best of 2024 awards.
Fans of the print magazine will be pleased to know that it's also set to return, albeit at a later date. Miller shared the team's ambition to make it "bigger and better than it was before." In the coming weeks, Game Informer will introduce membership and subscription benefits, enhance their video, streaming, and feature coverage, and expand their network of experts and partnerships to enrich their content.
For those eager to stay updated, creating a new Game Informer account offers early access to exclusive perks, including the Game Informer Magazine Archive, a weekly newsletter, Dark Mode, and Early-Bird Founder Access. Dive back into the world of gaming with Game Informer and enjoy a renewed commitment to delivering the best in gaming journalism.
