Games Workshop Boosts Staff with $27M Amid Success
The success story of Games Workshop, the UK-based creator of the iconic *Warhammer 40,000* universe, continues to grow stronger. Fresh off a record-breaking financial year, the Nottingham-based company has announced it will distribute £20 million (approximately $27 million) in bonuses to its employees as a reward for their contributions to the company’s impressive performance.
For the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, Games Workshop reported core revenue of £560 million, up from £494.7 million in the previous fiscal year. Licensing revenue also saw a significant increase, rising to £50 million compared to £31 million the year before. Core profits reached £210 million, while licensing profits climbed to £45 million, contributing to a total pre-tax profit of £255 million—up from £203 million in the prior period.
Generous Bonuses for Staff
As a direct result of these strong financial results, Games Workshop is rewarding its team with a collective bonus package worth £20 million. This marks an increase from the £18 million distributed last year. The bonuses are being given on an equal basis to each employee, and based on an estimated workforce of around 1,500 staff members, this equates to approximately £13,333 (around $18,000) per person.
A Multi-Faceted IP Powerhouse
While Games Workshop is best known for its miniature tabletop war games such as *Warhammer 40,000*, the company has successfully expanded into broader entertainment markets. Its licensing arm has grown significantly, driven by blockbuster video game releases like *Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2*, critically acclaimed animated content including Amazon’s *Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level* episode, and a major cinematic partnership with Amazon and actor Henry Cavill for a new Warhammer 40,000 film and TV universe. Development on *Space Marine 3* is also currently underway.
Looking Ahead
Despite achieving record licensing revenues in FY2025, Games Workshop has indicated that such high levels may not be repeated in the upcoming fiscal year. However, the company remains committed to expanding its intellectual property portfolio and capitalizing on the growing global popularity of the Warhammer brand.
With *Warhammer 40,000* and the wider Warhammer universe at peak visibility and engagement, Games Workshop shows no signs of slowing down. The recent annual Warhammer Skulls event highlighted this momentum, featuring exciting announcements such as the Definitive Edition of *Dawn of War* and the introduction of Siege mode for *Space Marine 2*.
