Genshin Impact 5.5: Varesa or Xiao - Who to Pull?
In *Genshin Impact* Version 5.5, set to launch on March 26, two new characters will be introduced: Varesa, a 5-Star Electro Catalyst from Natlan, and Iansan, a 4-Star Electro Polearm. The Version 5.5 livestream showcased their kits, with Varesa's standing out due to its similarity to Xiao's playstyle.
How Is Varesa’s Playstyle Similar to Xiao’s in Genshin Impact?
Varesa's kit introduces a unique Charged Attack mechanic where she launches herself into the air, enabling Plunging Attacks while generating Nightsoul Points. This is particularly fitting for her Natlan origin, as it encourages frequent use of Charged Attacks to accumulate these points.
Her Elemental Skill, Riding the Night-Rainbow, transforms her into a luchador pro wrestler, charging forward to deal Electro DMG. Following this, her Normal Attacks convert into Plunging Attacks without consuming stamina, echoing Xiao's playstyle when he uses his Elemental Burst, Bane of All Evil, which boosts his jumping capability for consecutive Plunging Attacks.
By executing enough Plunging Attacks, Varesa can enter a powerful state called Fiery Passion once her Nightsoul Meter is full, enhancing her attacks and Burst. This makes Plunging Attacks central to her gameplay, much like Xiao's.
Should You Stick to Xiao or Pull for Varesa in Genshin Impact?
The key difference between Xiao and Varesa lies in their approach to Plunging Attacks. While Xiao needs his Elemental Burst to enable continuous Plunging Attacks, Varesa can start them with just her Charged Attacks, allowing her to enter and maintain a more potent state without relying on her Burst.
If you're a fan of Xiao's playstyle and enjoy this type of gameplay, Varesa might be a worthwhile addition to your roster. Her independence from her Elemental Burst for Plunging Attacks is a significant advantage. Additionally, if you have other Natlan characters, Varesa synergizes well with them due to the Nightsoul's Blessing mechanic.
However, consider that Xianyun, who excels at supporting Plunging Attack characters like Xiao, will be available alongside Varesa in *Genshin Impact* 5.5 (Phase I). If you already have Xiao and lack Xianyun, pulling for her might be more beneficial. Otherwise, Varesa offers a fresh yet familiar experience for players looking to expand their gameplay options.
Genshin Impact is available to play now.
