GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date
GTA 6 May Eventually Come to PC, Hinting at Future Release
GTA 6, the highly anticipated next installment in the Grand Theft Auto series, has not yet been confirmed for a PC release. However, recent statements from Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick suggest that a PC version could be on the horizon. Dive in to explore the latest on GTA 6's potential future on PC and other developments.
GTA 6 on PC: Unconfirmed but Teased by Take-Two
While Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) remains unannounced for PC, hints from Take-Two Interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick during an interview with IGN on February 10, 2025, suggest a possible future release. Zelnick highlighted that while Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on console and PC, Rockstar Games typically adopts a staggered release strategy across different platforms.
Historical releases support this pattern. GTA 5 initially launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and finally on PC in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 debuted on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, with the PC version arriving in November 2019.
Though no official word has been given regarding GTA 6 on PC, Zelnick's comments imply Take-Two's interest in eventually bringing the game to the platform. Fans had hoped for a simultaneous PC launch given GTA 6's anticipated impact, but it seems they may need to wait.
Take-Two Confident in GTA 6's Multiplatform Success
Zelnick emphasized the growing significance of PC as a gaming platform, noting that PC versions of multiplatform titles can account for up to 40% of total sales. He acknowledged the trend of PC becoming increasingly vital in what was once predominantly a console market, and predicted this trend would continue.
Despite reports of declining sales for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Zelnick expressed confidence in GTA 6's ability to boost console sales. He stated, "When you have a big title in the market, and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles." He anticipates a significant increase in console sales in 2025 due to a robust release schedule from various publishers, including Take-Two.
GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, but no specific date has been announced. Keep an eye on our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates.
More Take-Two and Rockstar Games Possibly Coming to Switch 2
During the Take-Two Interactive Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick shared their interest in expanding to the upcoming Switch 2 console. He mentioned their longstanding relationship with Nintendo and how the company's audience has evolved, making the Switch suitable for all age groups.
With Civilization 7 confirmed for the Switch, Zelnick noted, "While we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch." This opens the possibility for more Take-Two and Rockstar titles, including GTA 6, to potentially be released on the Switch 2 in the future.
