Take-Two Interactive Re-Affirms Fall 2025 Release for Grand Theft Auto 6
Take-Two, Rockstar Games' parent company, has reiterated its commitment to a Fall 2025 release window for Grand Theft Auto 6 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This confirmation comes during their third-quarter financial report (ending December 31, 2024). While acknowledging the inherent risk of delays, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence in the projected timeframe.
In an interview with IGN, Zelnick stated that while slippage is always a possibility, Take-Two is optimistic about meeting the Fall 2025 target. He emphasized Rockstar's dedication to quality, highlighting the anticipation surrounding the game both internally and externally. He also acknowledged the competitive landscape and the pressure to deliver a successful product.
The GTA 6 release date remains a major topic in the gaming industry, influencing the release strategies of competitors. EA CEO Andrew Wilson recently hinted at potential Battlefield delays contingent on competing releases, a clear reference to the anticipated impact of GTA 6.
The lack of a second trailer, over a year after the initial reveal, continues to fuel fan speculation. Further fueling the discussion are ongoing debates about potential PC release, and the game's performance on a hypothetical PS5 Pro.
Meanwhile, Take-Two reported impressive sales figures for its existing titles:
- Grand Theft Auto 5 has surpassed 210 million units sold globally.
- GTA Online experienced a strong quarter, boosted by the Agents of Sabotage update, and GTA+ subscriptions increased by 10% year-over-year.
- Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold over 70 million copies and is currently enjoying record concurrent players on Steam.
