Fall 2025 Release Window for GTA 6 Remains on Track

The release of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) is still scheduled for Fall 2025. During its Q3 earnings call on February 7, 2025, parent company Take-Two Interactive provided an update on its current status and upcoming releases for the year.

CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed strong confidence in a Fall 2025 launch, though he acknowledged the potential for delays, stating, "There's always a risk of slippage, and I think as soon as you say words like 'absolutely,' you jinx things."

Nevertheless, Zelnick said the team "feels really good about it" regarding the targeted release period. While he declined to share development specifics, he emphasized the studio's commitment to quality: "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs... Our whole organization is super excited."

Take-Two Interactive's Major Releases Scheduled for 2025

Zelnick highlighted 2025 as a pivotal year for the company, packed with major launches. "This calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, with Sid Meier’s Civilization VII launching in Early Access today and officially on February 11th. We also plan to release Mafia: The Old Country this Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4 before year-end," he announced.

Regarding the commercial outlook, Zelnick remained highly optimistic: "We believe our upcoming titles have transformative potential for our business and the industry in the long term."

Looking further ahead, Take-Two is "highly confident" in achieving record Net Bookings growth in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.

GTA 5 Surpasses 210 Million Units Sold Globally

The Grand Theft Auto franchise remains Take-Two's flagship, with lifetime sales exceeding 210 million units. GTA Online enjoyed a successful quarter following its holiday 'Agents of Sabotage' update, while the GTA+ membership program saw consistent growth, increasing its reach by 10% year-over-year.

Other company titles also performed strongly in Q3. NBA 2K25 sold over 7 million copies, with Recurrent Consumer Spending up over 30%, Daily Active Users up nearly 20%, and Monthly Active Users up nearly 10%.

Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to expand its audience, surpassing 70 million units sold. With ongoing updates to Red Dead Online, including a popular Halloween pass, the game recently hit a new peak of nearly 100,000 concurrent players on Steam.

GTA 5 Actor Clarifies His Feelings About His Character

Rumors have circulated that Steven Ogg, the actor behind Trevor in GTA 5, dislikes being associated with the character. During an appearance on the Inside You podcast, Ogg addressed these claims directly.

Ogg clarified that he does not hate the character, but finds it odd when fans call him by his character's name. "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like, 'meh,'" he explained.

He went on to praise the role, saying, "He's a great character. He's awesome." Ogg also noted he remains friends with his co-stars, Shawn Fonteno (Franklin) and Ned Luke (Michael), having recently appeared with them at a Comic Con event.

In a prior interview, Ogg humorously suggested Trevor could appear in GTA 6 just to be killed off immediately. However, he confirmed he has not recorded any material for the sequel and has no knowledge of Trevor's potential return.
