Netflix Games is losing two Grand Theft Auto titles next month. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog on December 13th.
Why are these GTA games leaving Netflix?
This isn't a surprise move; Netflix licenses games like it does movies and TV shows. The 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games for these two titles is expiring. A "Leaving Soon" notification will appear in-game before their removal.
Both games were added to Netflix Games exactly one year ago. After December 13th, they will no longer be accessible to Netflix subscribers. If you're currently playing, it's time to finish up! Note that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available.
Where can I play these games after they leave Netflix?
You can purchase the Definitive Editions of Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City individually for $4.99 each, or the entire trilogy for $11.99 on the Google Play Store.
Unlike the abrupt removal of some games in the past (like Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest), Netflix is giving players advance notice. This is noteworthy considering the GTA trilogy contributed significantly to Netflix Games' subscriber growth in 2023.
There are rumors that Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on potential remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars. Let's hope this rumor proves true!
