Guardians of Galaxy’s Pom Klementieff Eyed for DCU

James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, is known for frequently casting friends in his projects. Now, an actress from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy confirms discussions with Gunn about a role in the upcoming DC Universe.

The DC Universe aims to surpass the success of the previous DC Extended Universe, which suffered from internal conflicts and inconsistent vision. While the DCEU had some box office wins, it also faced financial setbacks and narrative inconsistencies. Warner Bros. hopes Gunn, renowned for the Guardians of the Galaxy films, can steer the DCU to avoid similar pitfalls, possibly by bringing familiar faces along.

According to Agents of Fandom, Pom Klementieff, who played Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy, revealed at San Antonio's Superhero Comic Con that she's discussed a specific DCU role with Gunn. While she remained tight-lipped about the character, she confirmed Gunn has a particular role in mind.

I just want to keep working with James, so we’re going to keep trying to find ways to do that. \[...\] Yes, we’ve been talking about one specific character, but I can’t talk about that right now.

Klementieff also shared her positive experience working with Gunn on *Guardians of the Galaxy*, expressing her gratitude for the opportunity. With *Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3* concluding with a team shakeup, she remains open to reprising her role as Mantis.

I'm always open to it, I love the character. I'm sure the fans would love to see it, but I don't know. It depends on the project.

Gunn himself later confirmed these conversations on Threads, clarifying that the role isn't in his upcoming *Superman* film. However, neither Gunn nor Klementieff has revealed the character in question.

Gunn's tendency to cast familiar faces, including his brother and wife, has drawn criticism. However, many filmmakers work with similar actors, and the practice isn't inherently problematic. Ultimately, judging Klementieff's potential DCU performance should wait until her role is revealed and seen.
