"Guide to Earning 'Test Your Might' Achievement in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Tournament"
In *Assassin's Creed Shadows*, The Tournament is not only a thrilling source of XP but also a way to earn the "Test Your Might" trophy. Here's a detailed guide on how to unlock, find, and conquer The Tournament.
How to Unlock and Find The Tournament in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
To unlock The Tournament, you'll need to meet Gyoji, a resident of Yamato, who will be waiting outside your hideout after you've taken down several members of The Shinbakufu. Gyoji will introduce you to the secret fighting arena located at the Ominesanji Temple in Southeastern Yamato. To make your journey smoother, synchronize at the Ominesanji Overlook viewpoint west of the area to establish a fast travel point. This will allow you to easily return to the location or switch characters as needed.
Upon arriving at the Ominesanji Temple, speak with Gyoji again. He'll inform you that you must complete four one-on-one duels followed by a battle against the ultimate champion. After the cutscene, ring the bell to start your first fight.
How to Complete The Tournament in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
The Tournament is a series of intense, high-stakes duels. Fortunately, you can take breaks between fights, allowing you time to heal with rations and upgrade your weapons and armor. To successfully defeat each opponent, using a long katana with Yasuke is highly recommended. Focus on dodging and parrying to create openings and utilize abilities like Power Dash and Payback when you have enough adrenaline.
Understanding your opponents' weapons can give you an edge. Here's a breakdown of each fighter and their weapon:
- Lady Masago: Naginata
- Lord Suguru: Katana
- Lord Hokuto: Kanabo
- Lady O-Sen: Two Poison Katana and ranged items
- Lord Unkai: Naginata (can heal if you keep your distance)
After defeating all challengers, speak with Gyoji atop the hill. He'll express his gratitude and mention future tournaments. During this conversation, you should unlock the "Test Your Might" trophy.
Best Loadout and Skills for Tournaments in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
For The Tournament, the Long Katana is your weapon of choice. Equip the highest rarity Long Katana available and upgrade it at your hideout's blacksmith. Consider adding engravings that boost Armor Damage or Armor Piercing for an advantage. Your armor selection is crucial as well; it not only enhances your health but can also offer combat-altering abilities through engravings.
Before entering The Tournament, ensure you have the Samurai Daimyo Armor of Legend, obtained by defeating The Ox of the Shinbakufu, and the Protector’s Armor, earned from completing a Castle mission. The former increases damage by 75% but limits your health to 25%, while the latter allows you to parry unblockable attacks. Combining these engravings can help you defeat tournament enemies swiftly, provided you master parrying.
Invest your Mastery points in the Long Katana and Samurai skill trees. Prioritize maxing out Combat Expert to boost your melee damage and unlock Power Dash and Payback for an edge in combat.
*Assassin’s Creed Shadows* is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S from March 20th. Dive into the world of Yamato and prove your might in The Tournament!
