Hunting and fishing are, arguably, the oldest pastimes known to humankind. Except perhaps cave paintings, I suppose. But there's a reason that even in more enlightened times, a visceral and primal part of our minds finds such joy in it. And Hunt and Hook: Frontier is the latest upcoming release to try and capitalise on that.

Coming to us from Nexelon, the same developer behind What Duck and its spin-offs, Hunt and Hook (as you might expect from the name) is a hunting and fishing simulator. Trying to combine the two is ambitious, considering so many popular releases, such as Wild America, only focus on one or the other.

But Hunt and Hook promises not just full-3D hunting action, but also that of fishing in wide open oceans. You'll have multiple regions to explore and different species of real-world fish and fauna to encounter in your battle to become the apex hunter and savage angler.

Fishing for compliments

Hunt and Hook's many features are almost too numerous to list, be it the aforementioned multiple regions, full 3D fishing and shooting, as well as changing weather and time, different gear such as infra-red equipment and a full collection to log all your various game.

But while Nexelon is certainly ambitious, I'd wager we'll have to wait and see some more gameplay and screenshots of the finished product. If they can pull it off, they'd be delivering something very special and more feature-rich than even the most well-known hunting sims. But they might just be biting off more than they can chew, too.
