Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment expands the universe of Hyrule Warriors by focusing on the ancient history depicted in Tears of the Kingdom. The game features beloved characters like Zelda, alongside Rauru, Sonia, and other Secret Stone holders. The storyline delves into Zelda's journey after she travels back in time, where she allies with the last Zonai, Rauru, his sister Mineru, and his wife Sonia to combat Ganondorf and his forces.

The trailer showcased the impressive abilities of these champions, including Mineru piloting a mech, Zelda wielding powerful magic, Rauru brandishing a unique sword-spear, and brief glimpses of other Sacred Stone wielders in action.

This marks the third installment in the Hyrule Warriors series, following the original Hyrule Warriors and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which was a prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Age of Calamity was particularly notable for its storytelling, which, while connected to Breath of the Wild, took an unexpected turn. We awarded Age of Calamity a 9/10, praising it as "a joy to play and discover" and "a blast from start to finish."
