While video games often depict violence against animals, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny takes a different, more compassionate approach. MachineGames Creative Director Jens Andersson explained to IGN, "Indiana Jones is a dog person." This decision reflects a commitment to aligning the game's tone with the family-friendly nature of the Indiana Jones franchise.

Despite the adventurous and occasionally intense scenarios, Indy's interactions with dogs will be non-violent. Andersson clarified, "It’s a family-friendly IP in many ways...We have dogs as enemies, but you don’t really hurt the dogs. You scare them away." This marks a significant departure from MachineGames' previous titles, such as Wolfenstein, where animal combat was a common feature.

Set in 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny begins with Indy pursuing artifacts stolen from Marshall College. His thrilling journey takes him from the Vatican to the Egyptian pyramids and even the submerged temples of Sukhothai. Players will utilize Indy's iconic whip not only for traversal but also as a weapon to disarm and subdue human enemies within open-world-inspired environments. Rest assured, dog lovers, Indy's whip will remain firmly un-deployed against our four-legged friends.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny launches December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with a PS5 release tentatively scheduled for Spring 2025.
