While friendships can blossom with nearly everyone in *Fields of Mistria*, romance is reserved for a select group of 11 NPCs, including the intriguing Caldarus, as of the v0.13.0 update. Each romanceable NPC has a heart meter that fills based on your interactions with them. To kindle a romance, frequent interactions are key, as is understanding their likes and dislikes.

Start by engaging in daily conversations with them, which can be seamlessly integrated into your daily farm tasks. Regular chats can significantly boost their affection towards you. Additionally, make it a point to complete their requests posted on the town board, as fulfilling these will further enhance their heart gauge.

The final, yet crucial step, is to present them with gifts once per day. Choose items they particularly like or love, as these vary from character to character. You can either gather or craft these items. On their birthday, gifting them a beloved item is especially impactful. Consistently following these steps will swiftly elevate their heart gauge.

Keep in mind that currently, NPC heart gauges can only reach up to six hearts. At this level, a cutscene with your chosen NPC will suggest a budding connection, though not a full romance yet. According to the game's roadmap, future updates will introduce 8 and 10-heart events, and eventually, options for marriage and children, ensuring your romance in Mistria has room to grow.
