Death Stranding Broadens Horizons
Anime Adaptation Underway

While a live-action Death Stranding film has been in development, Hideo Kojima recently confirmed an anime adaptation is also in progress. In a May 28 interview with Vogue Japan, Kojima discussed the upcoming film and casually mentioned the anime project.
He emphasized that the future of entertainment lies in dissolving boundaries between video games and films, a core mission for his company. Kojima stated, "After establishing the Death Stranding IP across platforms and producing a film and sequel, our next phase is crafting a work that seamlessly merges games and cinema."

Discussing game-to-film adaptations, Kojima cited The Last of Us for its fidelity to the original story and The Super Mario Bros. Movie for its fan-driven appeal. He aims to create a film worthy of prestigious awards at festivals like Cannes or Venice. He added, "We are actively developing an anime adaptation."
Although Kojima hinted at an anime in a September 2024 Variety interview, this marks the first official confirmation from Kojima Productions. No further details about the project have been released.

Fans anticipate updates on Death Stranding 2 (DS2) ahead of its release, though Kojima may also touch on other projects like OD and Physint. Recent DS2 promotions, including a QR code campaign, suggest a focus on building excitement for the sequel.
Anticipation Builds for DS2
On Reddit, fans shared details of a new QR code campaign launched by Kojima Productions, linking to a video on the game’s official website. User soldier_ibra noted the studio’s Pocket Tissue campaign in Japan, where QR codes on pocket tissues direct fans to the video.
Kojima personally promoted the campaign on May 23, distributing pocket tissues in Tokyo streets. The video, titled "Prepper Awaiting Porter," features a brief, enigmatic clip inside a Prepper Shelter. Fans view this as classic Kojima marketing, with more promotional content expected as the release approaches.
